I don't know how many times the equipment that varies from supplier to supplier makes supplier A the better choice at 5000 pieces but supplier B at 2500 pcs.
In addition, suppliers have different capacities and cycles where they will sell their widgets with a reduced price to generate dollars towards contribution margin.
In fact, a supplier will move a customer in a direction that meets their own needs instead of the clients. Lets say the supplier has in house screenprinting, but you preference is to have the products embroidered. The supplier, in many instances, will make the screenprinting option look more favourable in order to keep their machines busy.
